Jim Ross Discusses Kurt Angle’s Feud With HHH

Jim Ross discussed in a recent edition of Grilling JR about Kurt Angle’s rise in WWE throw the year 2000 while working with Triple H.

The year 2000 is known to be, arguably, the Olympic Gold Medalist’s best year within the WWE. In the 12 months Angle won the Intercontinental and European titles (declaring himself the ‘Eurocontinental Champion). Winning the 2000 King of the Ring by defeating Rikishi in the final, Kurt Angle would go on to feud with the King of Kings, Triple H being in a love triangle with the two superstars and Stephanie McMahon.

Once that feud was complete Kurt Angle would then go on to challenge for the WWE Championship along with The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker, Rikishi, and Triple H, finishing the year as the WWE Champion.

While discussing this on Grilling JR, Jim Ross would say on Kurt Angles rise within WWE through 2000:

“Kurt came into his own as an entertainer. There was never a doubt, obviously – you’ve got a legitimate gold medalist in freestyle for the ’96 Olympics – we all saw that. I remember talking to Dory Jr. when we brought Kurt in, and Dory and Tom Prichard were both invaluable in training a lot of guys, including Kurt, and they did a great job with him. But Kurt finally got comfortable with his own skin and got comfortable being an entertainer and not just a shooter or a badass, which we all knew he was. He became more than one-dimensional. He acquired the skills of being an entertainer really rapidly. He got really, really good at it.”
