Nikki Cross was not seen on SmackDown this week. This has caused some to be concerned about her status for tonight’s scheduled SmackDown Women’s Title match at Clash Of Champions.
Recently, there was a COVID-19 outbreak in NXT. Killian Dain, Nikki Cross’ husband was not on the show this week. It is unclear at this stage who has COVID-19 and who is out of action for precautionary or any other reasons. WWE hasn’t revealed that information as of this writing, but it has created a somewhat unique situation for the pay-per-view.
Ringside News asked about Nikki Cross’ status and were told: “everyone is very tight lipped” about the situation. There are a few things that people are not allowed to talk about backstage in WWE and they include the “COVID outbreak and everything else going on.”
WWE only recently tweeted out to promote the Clash Of Champions match, and Nikki Cross was still included in the graphic. We’ll have to wait and see if WWE makes some sort of late change, but as of right now it appears that they are still going ahead with this match for the pay-per-view.
The company has promoted matches in the past that they knew wouldn’t happen, so this could always just be another instance of that happening.
