Exiting 2019, the most talked-about story in wrestling was arguably Liv Morgan re-introducing herself as Lana’s ex-lover. Liv returned after an extended hiatus to crash the wedding of Lana and Bobby Lashley, leading to a feud that also involved Miro (formerly Rusev in WWE).
The details behind Lana and Liv’s past relationship was never really explained and the feud died out after a handful of matches between the two sides.
Miro told Chris Van Vliet when asked about the Liv reveal, he stated that there was never really a plan. Miro would go on to explain
“No plan. One time pop. No plan,”
“A lot of things were made for one time pops. People thought it was the worst thing and it meant all these things. No, it was a one-time thing and a way to get people talking. At that time, the showrunner was about getting people talking and controversy. That’s how the whole thing happened. It was about the controversy and all that. We achieved that. Unfortunately, there was no follow-through. That’s what happens when you change people all the time. There is no follow-through. You revealed CJ to leave her husband and be the worst, she’s still the baddest heel on their show, and she did all this for what? To throw everything away the year before. Nobody remembers that.”
Miro would disappear from television once the angle was wrapped up, wrestling his last match for WWE on February 17. He was released by WWE in April and joined AEW in September. The relationship between Liv and Lana was more or less dropped as Liv started teaming with Ruby Riott again and Lana teamed with Natalya after being dumped by Lashley.
Miro is now set to be the Best Man for Kip Sabian at his wedding to Penelope Ford, in his new angle in AEW.
