In a star-studded video package that was spread throughout Dynamite, many celebrities and well known names sent in videos congratulating Chris Jericho on his thirty years in the wrestling business. Names including; Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, former Guns n’ Roses guitarist Slash, KISS bassist Gene Simmons and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.
However one of the most interesting inclusions was none other than Jericho’s last opponent in Japan; current NJPW star Hiroshi Tanahashi, with his promotion’s logo in the background.
Though it was only a congratulatory video, New Japan star Tanahashi being on AEW television may actually be quite significant. Recently there have been some management changes in New Japan, which led to speculation that a working relationship between the two companies is now more likely than it has been before. This small acknowledgement of New Japan and Tanahashi could mean a lot moving forward.
At the end of the day, it is still only a little snippet on Dynamite but sometimes important information resides within small details.
