Elias Reveals Who He Should Have Faced At WrestleMania 36
Elias had a great first year within WWE. Moving quickly up the ranks to being one of the main stays in WWE. When Elias swapped to face, the crowd loved him, but without a crowd present due to the pandemic, the face Elias doesn’t hit as strong.
Elias has revealed he was set to finish off a three year storyline arc with John Cena at WrestleMania 36.
This started when John Cena returned to WWE in December 2017. The confrontation never really ended up with a conclusion in the first instance. The second would be at WrestleMania 34, in which Elias would attack Cena whilst waiting the arrival of The Undertaker. The last interruption was during WrestleMania 35, in which Cena would attack Elias during a performance.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Elias would state who he should have faced,
“New Orleans, I’m in the mix with John and the Undertaker,” Elias said. “The next year, I’m in there with John and the Undertaker again—John at WrestleMania, the Undertaker the night next on Raw. I was supposed to go on and face the Undertaker at the show in Saudi Arabia. That never ended up happening because of Goldberg, but that was supposed to be my match. The year after was supposed to be myself against John Cena at WrestleMania in a three-year running story. Things obviously changed and that didn’t end up happening.”
The script was changed and Cena would face Bray Wyatt, and Elias would face Corbin. With Elias now returning after injury, could we eventually see a conclusion to this slow billed feud?
