Big E sat down and talked with Corey Graves on his “After The Bell” podcast. They wasted no time getting right to what everyone wants to know as Graves asked Big E to just give his raw emotion on the New Day Split
I think for us obviously we had our promo with the three of us kind of saying our goodbyes. One of the things that was important to us, we always have in ring promos and its usually nonsense and shenanigans but we wanted this to feel real, we wanted to let people into how we really felt. One of the biggest things for me is not just the fact that I spent 6 years together with two guys I call my friends, my brothers but I think back to all the stuff we’ve done outside of the ring as well. We spent a lot of time together, growing together and as far as this period of my career going, I couldn’t imagine a more enjoyable period. Sure I could have been world champion, I could have won more titles, maybe won more money but this has been the most enjoyable, when I started wrestling I never imagined I could have this much fun and I’d enjoy it this much

As far as the solo stuff in-ring, I Know it’s been awhile but like I gotta remind people I was the second ever NXT champion, I was a Intercontinental champion. 11 years ago I didn’t start in a tag team, I’ve been doing this for years as single.
Graves asked Big E “What are you looking forward to in the near future”
If your goal isn’t to be world champion than you don’t deserve to be here and I feel that way. If a world championship isn’t in my immediate trajectory then I feel like I’m a doing a disservice not only to myself but to the fans, To Kofi and Woods. If this split wasn’t for something big or important than why are we doing it, it was all for not. That’s definitely important to me
Big E then went on to talk about earning his opportunities during his singles run
I think there is something to feeling like the opportunity is earned as well. I know a lot of times you’ll see guys get called up or get moved into a main event picture right away. whether they get the opportunity and they actually win the title or they don’t, sometimes I feel like you lose out on something special there because you didn’t get to really ride with your guys
I just want to feel like the opportunity is earned. So I’m ready to jump through the hurdles, I’m ready to work my way up. Even though I feel like I’ve done that 6 years in of the New Day and prior to that. I don’t mind not having the opportunity In week or two to have a world championship match. I don’t mind kinda going through the obstacles I need to but that’s ultimate goal is to be a world champion. That always looks good on the resume
