Marvel Comics Partners With AAA Wrestling To Introduce New Characters

The world of Marvel Comics is hitting Lucha Libre.

As recently announced by Marvel, Marvel is partnering with AAA Lucha Libre to bring characters inspired by Marvel Comics to the AAA promotion. According to the press release, the first batch of characters is scheduled to debut during “autumn of this year”, at AAA’s TripleMania event.

The wrestlers scheduled to debut are Aracno (Spider-Man), Leyenda Americana (Captain America) on the Tecnico side, and Terror Púrpura (Thanos) and Venenoide (Venom) on the Rudo side.

The article goes to state that these are “the first 4 wrestlers”, meaning there is potential for more wrestlers down the line. Konnan mentioned on his podcast in relationship to this that there is a good chance top stars for the company will be underneath the masks of these characters.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter went on to add that the wrestlers under the mask will “all be well-known talent”, hinting at a member of the AAA roster and some US talent as well. Konnan didn’t drop any specific names, but did mention on his podcast some details about the Terror Púrpura specifically, being “the biggest and the baddest.”

For fans of wrestling and Marvel Comics, this sounds like it has potential for a lot of fun, but we’ll have to wait to see what happens at TripleMania.
