WWE Has Reached Out To Talent Featured On AEW Dark And NJPW Strong
One of the highlights of AEW Dark since its inception is the fact that AEW has used it to not just feature its own talent, but it has brought in a slew of independent talent to work the show during the pandemic. Some of them have even managed to parlay the spotlight to get contracts with AEW and other promotions. AEW has brought in and signed Dark mainstays Will Hobbs, Serpentico, Anthony Bowens, and Max Caster in recent weeks, and Alan Angels got his start on Dark before becoming 5 of the Dark Order.
New Japan has adopted this approach for their online New Japan Strong show, using talent like Fred Rosser, Blake Christian, and DKC during the pandemic with them unable to bring in talent from Japan during this time.
One of the biggest signings from all these moves came when WWE managed to sign Ben Carter to bring him to the NXT UK brand, but he may not be the only one eventually. According to Fightful Select, the WWE has reached out to “numerous” wrestlers who have featured on both shows. One of those talents according to PWInsider was Bowens, who ultimately decided on AEW.
It seems like the race to snag talent is heating up.
