Tony Khan Provides Update On Absent Overseas Talent

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit pro wrestling promotions in different ways. Whether it’s having to perform in empty arenas without fans or bringing them in virtually, companies have had to adjust to a new normal.

All Elite Wrestling has been hit not just in having to run shows without fans, but the loss of some of their talent. Many of their top female performers are from Japan and one of the company’s biggest stars resides in the United Kingdom. Pac has been absent from in-ring action for many months, though he recently returned via a taped vignette that aired this past Wednesday on Dynamite.

During the post-Full Gear media scrum last night, Tony Khan talked about those missing talents and expressed optimism we may see some of those talents soon. While he gave no specific dates, it was clear he was hoping we’d see them soon.

“I’ve been hopeful for a long time. The issue is sometimes for people who live overseas when they get back they have quarantine upon arrival, which is totally understandable. That’s been the issue for a long time and I’m really excited to get all those people back, Pac included, whenever it’s possible. I don’t know when he’s coming back [smiles], we’ll have to stay tuned. I’m really excited about Pac and a lot of our other international stars coming back.”

“He’s one of the best wrestlers we have for sure and I think it’s a testament to the depth that we have on the roster that we’ve been able to put on great shows like tonight without him and some of the great wrestlers we’re missing such as some of the Joshi like Riho and Yuka Sakazaki.”

The loss of Pac had brought a change in creative plans as he was in the process of forming Death Triangle with the Lucha Bros. Riho was their former Women’s Champion and a top contender to the title and Yuka Sakazaki was rising through their rankings at a time when the women’s division was developing. The missing talent has certainly had their presence missed and perhaps they may be back on Dynamite sooner than later.
