The COVID-19 pandemic has changed things across the world, even in professional wrestling. One of the ways the world outside pro wrestling and the pro wrestling world have intersected in these changing times is the ability to work from home.
While that doesn’t mean people are holding shows in their apartments, it does mean that top executives and members of creative teams can work remotely without having to come into the office. In the case of the WWE, it could mean the difference between staying in your apartment or commuting to Stamford, CT.
According to PWInsider, WWE employees held a virtual town hall meeting with Stephanie McMahon and other top executives in the company where one of the big takeaways from the meeting was how the company was adding a “flexible work policy.”
What this meant was depending on the role, they can choose whether or not they wanted to work from home. There’s no requirement to return to the home office, which could be of use as they still plan on moving to a new corporate HQ in the near future.
Following this, Ringside News first reported that no writer on the creative team has taken them up on the offer to work from home, though there are two exceptions. Edge and Daniel Bryan are not required to be in the office, but it has been noted there was never an obligation to do that. Since being appointed to their respective creative teams, the pair have always teleconferenced into their meetings. While others may take them up on the offer, the creative team seems to find themselves willing to come into the office and work every day.
