NXT UK had their roster forced to sit at home during the COVID-19 pandemic for several months, and one of the names that didn’t return when they began filming again was Killer Kelly. Not many people knew about Kelly and the WWE parting ways, and that was exactly the way she wanted it.
In a report from Fightful Select, Killer Kelly wanted to “make a concentrated effort to not publicize her departure” from NXT UK. She wanted to build intrigue and confusion about her status since so few people knew what was really happening with her.
She wanted to keep the news quiet and build intrigue and even a little confusion as to what she was doing and how she was able to work certain shows when nobody really knew that she was out of the company.
The company usually changes names referencing war and killing (see: Killer Kross, War Machine/War Raiders), and the report says that Kelly feels as though the WWE “forgot about her Killer Kelly name.” She believes it is the reason she was able to keep it during her tenure with the company. Killer Kelly did think they would change it at some point, but she was able to keep it.
