WWE Wanted To Change Up Chelsea Green’s Identity

Chelsea Green is no stranger to new identities when it comes to wrestling. Before coming to the WWE, Green’s stint in Impact Wrestling had her as Laurel Van Ness. Before her main roster debut last Friday on SmackDown, she almost had another new identity.

In a report by Fightful Select, Green was initially planned to have a name change or a nickname. Whatever it was, something was going to be related to “Victorious.”

The plans changed when things ran into a trademark issue. Both Green and “Victorious” appear on the run-down she was on, and after the re-writes and everything else, Green eventually debuted under her real name last Friday night.

There were some concerns raised by some within the company that there could be trademark issues in making that happen. Both Green and “Victorious” appeared on the internal rundowns.

The plan called for Green to cut a post-match promo where the Victorious moniker would be shown off, and that plan was scrapped due to her injury. There’s always a chance this could resurface when she returns from injury, but nothing is certain at this time.
