Zelina Vega’s release is still making headlines in the world of professional wrestling.
Almost a week after her release due to “breach of contract” officially, Vega may have tipped her hand that she’s looking to change wrestling as we know it. Upon her release, SAG-AFTRA tweeted their support for her when she mentioned supporting unionization. SAG president Gabrielle Carteris tweeted interest in supporting Vega and WWE superstars in their attempt to unionize, tweeting out a message of interest in supporting their cause.
SAG-AFTRA’s official account tweeted out tonight that they have spoken with Vega, further confirming their support for her, with Vega RT’ing their post, both parties calling the conversation “powerful.”
The topic of unionization doesn’t seem to be going away. While it’s been shown WWE’s practices won’t require a new law to change, someone does need to actually enforce existing labor laws on the company to get them to change their ways. That someone could eventually be former Presidential candidate Andrew Yang, who has been outspoken against their practices.
