Last night, NXT announced Takeover: War Games set for December 6th. No matches had officially been announced, though with a name like that it was only a matter of time before matches with the War Games stipulations were announced.
Shortly after the show was announced and NXT wrapped up the show, what looks to be the main event has been announced with The Undisputed Era meeting NXT’s newest faction led by Pat McAfee. His team will include NXT Tag Team Champions Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch along with Pete Dunne.
The Undisputed Era are no strangers to War Games as all four members have been in every War Games match in some capacity since the concept was revived in 2017. Cole, Fish, & O’Reilly were one team in 2017 as they met in a 3-team War Games with Sanity and Roderick Strong & The Authors of Pain, while the full four-member UE was a team in 2018 and 2019 when they lost to the then-War Raiders, Dunne, and Ricochet in 2018 and lost to Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, Dominik Dijakovic, and Kevin Owens last year.
Obviously, there will be a chance for McAfee to play on their lack of success in War Games as a 4-man team in the weeks building up to the show, but this is the first one where the Era looks to be on the babyface side. Perhaps this will change everything.
On the women’s side, no women’s War Games match has been officially announced, but they seem to be teasing one with Shotzi Blackheart and Candice LeRae being the respective captains.
