Last night on MLW announced the return of their Opera Cup tournament and revealed the brackets for the tournament.
The 8-man tournament starts next week on Fusion, with four returning competitors from last year’s tournament, including a rematch of a quarterfinal from last year.
The competitors are Davey Boy Smith Jr., Low Ki, Richard Holliday, TJP, ACH, Laredo Kid, Tom Lawlor, and Rocky Romero. Ki and Smith meet in this year’s quarterfinals after having that match in last year’s quarterfinals. Smith was victorious on his way to a tournament victory over Brian Pillman Jr.
The other quarterfinal matches feature Lawlor vs. Romero, ACH vs. Laredo Kid, and Holliday vs. TJP.
Romero is a surprise entrant, making a rare outside New Japan Pro Wrestling appearance when he meets former MLW World Champion Lawlor. Meanwhile, Laredo Kid will be representing AAA Lucha Libre.
