As said by several reports, Big E was likely to compete in the Men’s Survivor Series match as part of the Smackdown team. However, he did not wrestle at all during the pay-per-view.
During the pay-per-view, he accompanied his New Day teammates as they went to the ring to square off The Street Profits and it seems that was his only role.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that him not being a part of the card was a decision made so that he could go to the ring with Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston for their Survivor Series match. They had a special entrance and wore attires that were the ones their playable Gears of War 5 characters wore.
It seems it was done simply as a product tie-in. It was also noted that Big E’s still going to be getting a push eventually.
