Meaning Behind AJ Styles’ Bodyguard’s Name
For the first few weeks of AJ Styles having his new associate, the man was a silent and unnamed bodyguard for Styles. It wasn’t until a couple weeks ago on Raw when Riddle dropped the name Omos out loud that we found out the man’s name.
The former bodyguard for Shane McMahon on Raw Underground had one week of being shown under his real name, Jordan Omogbehin, but has now been referred to for the last few weeks as Omos and there’s meaning behind the name.
WWE has often been fond of giving talent names that sound similar to their character or things surrounding them. In Mongolian folklore, the almas (pronounced similar to Omos) is a creature or deity which is said to inhabit the Caucasus and Pamir mountains of Central Asia and mountains in western Mongolia.
Another note is the legend of Almas khara Tenguer, which translates to Almas the Black God. The Almas has drawn comparisons to the Yeti and Bigfoot in term of size, but like those creatures, their existence has yet to be proven.
All things considered, if Omos got his name because it sounded similar to the large Yeti monster, it’s a reasonable comparison.
