First Ever NXT UK Heritage Cup Winner Crowned
In tonight’s NXT UK the main event was the Heritage Cup final, with A-Kid facing off against Trent Seven to crown the first ever Heritage Cup winner.
A-Kid made his way to the final defeating “Flash” Morgan Webster and Noam Dar and Trent Seven defeated Kenny Williams and Dave Mastiff on route to the final.
Round 1
Both started the first round off tentatively, but A-Kid got the better of the first round using his MMA background, with fantastic transitions, reversals and holds, Although neither man was able to gain any falls, neither man suffered much damage.
Round 2
The Second round was much like the first, it was truely excellent wrestling, however in this round A-Kid was able to lock in a knee bar with 40 seconds to go but Trent is able to break the hold with a straight cross square to A-Kid’s jaw. A-Kid was visibly upset accusing Trent of hitting him on bell.
Round 3
Round three opened up much more aggressively thanks to the end of round two, as they both start to lay in the strikes, Seven and Kid exchanged chops and kicks respectively. A-Kid gets the advantage unleashing a hail storm of strikes leading to him getting the first fall thanks to flying super kick, putting A-Kid 1-0 up.
Round 4
A-Kid starts the first round as he ended the previous, showing plenty of aggression looking to get a second fall and become the inaugural winner of the Heritage Cup. Despite A-Kid dominating the round with a series of arm bars, A-Kid is unable to get the second fall. Seven is able to withstand the pressure and lands a huge Power bomb in the last ten seconds.
Round 5
The fifth round starts off tentatively once again as they start exchanging holds, Seven lands a huge DDT to show that he is still in this match. The end of the fifth round sees both men come off the top rope, with A-Kid coming down on top of Seven but he is unable to get a pin fall in time.
Round 6
Going into the 6th round A-Kid has the advantage with a 1 fall lead, Seven comes out with everything he has hitting A-Kid with a Seven Star Lariat but Kid kicks out, Seven then goes for his burning hammer finisher but Kid gets his leg on the rope. With 30 seconds left in the round Kid goes for another arm bar but Seven stacks him up into a pin, bringing the match level with one fall a piece.
Sudden Death Over Time
With scores even after the 6th round the match goes into sudden death overtime, first fall wins no time limits. Both mean come out all guns a blazing as they both look to become the very first Heritage Cup Winner, Seven hits a huge slam off the apron onto the floor but Kid is able to beat the count.
Back in the ring Seven hits his Seven Star Lariat, then going for his Burning Hammer, Kid reverses landing on his feet hitting a super kick. A-Kid goes to follow up but Seven attempts an arm bar but A-Kid reverses locking in a double arm bar forcing Seven to submit.
A-Kid wins the first ever NXT UK Heritage Cup.
