Vice had lots of topics scheduled for their Dark Side of the Ring series, and one of the ones discussed for season 3 of the show was an episode on Chyna. The 9th Wonder of the World definitely has a story to tell that is both good, bad, and tragic. However, plans for that episode seem to be off the table now, according to her former manager.
Talking to Wrestling Inc. for their series “Documenting Chyna,” Anthony Anzaldo said that both Vice and Dark Side of the Ring approached him about a Chyna-themed episode. Anzaldo is Chyna’s former manager, and he didn’t seem particularly keen on the idea.
“They are putting it on VICE. It’s a Dark Side of The Ring two hour version. They want me so bad because they know the story isn’t told without me. I am not giving them the rights while they claim they still have the rights because I signed a release when I did my sit down.”
Anzaldo alleges that he did not sign a release to give the show permission to use footage of him, and also alleges the show offered him $1,500 for a sit down interview for the episode.
Evan Husney, the show’s executive producer, has issued a statement saying they have “no plans for an episode about Chyna for the upcoming season.” He says that they were made aware about multiple projects being worked on about the life and career of Chyna, so the idea was pulled from the lineup for season 3.
