Anna Jay has become a huge part of The Dark Order in AEW. In fact, one of her first appearances with the company featured her being recruited after a loss to Abadon which set her down the path of being their newest member, #99.
However, there’s more to that story we might never see thanks to a missing vignette.
Most viewers of AEW will recall the moment Brodie Lee reached out to her following the loss to Abadon, only for her to go missing for a couple of weeks and then return as a member without much explanation a couple of weeks later. During the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Jay said they actually filmed a vignette that would’ve covered her introduction and initiation into the group. For some reason, the vignette never aired and she just became a member of the faction.
“I remember the night that I was offered a contract,” Jay stated. “Actually, I don’t exactly remember who it was, but they said, ‘Oh, there’s an idea for you to be in The Dark Order, but we’re not going to do that.’ And so it’s like, Oh, okay, I’ll do literally whatever you guys want me to. I’m literally just happy to be here,’ and then it was brought up to my attention again. I think it was a couple of months after I was signed, and they actually filmed the whole vignette of me joining The Dark Order.”
“And then they ended up doing away with it, and so I just came out with Brodie and Colt on Dynamite if you guys remember. So it kind of happened pretty quick, but then I was gone for a couple of weeks and came back, and people, I think, were a little confused because I just walked out with him and that was it. But yeah, it just kind of fell into my lap.”
Anna Jay is clearly a future building block of the company. They have given her a lot of focus, especially having a segment where she took out Brandi Rhodes. The company sees a lot in her, and the emphasis on her continues to grow even after a loss to Hikaru Shida. They continue to build a tag team storyline with her and Tay Conti, so the future looks good for both stars.
