Update On Jon Moxley’s Wrestle Kingdom Status
The speculation around Jon Moxley and Wrestle Kingdom 15 continues to grow and whether or not he’ll defend the IWGP US Title at the big Tokyo Dome show. Moxley has not been active for the company since the COVID-19 pandemic began and lockdowns occurred. With some restrictions loosened and foreign talents returning to New Japan, fans have wondered if he would make the trip.
Logistics would have to be put in order to make it happen. He would have to leave no later than December 20th to make the event and with his wife pregnant, Moxley might not want to miss Christmas or more time than needed to be apart from family. However, as we’ve reported on a few occasions, not much has changed.
Dave Meltzer was on the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast and revealed that as of this past Thursday, Moxley still wasn’t booked for the show. However, one thing he did note was that Moxley dropping or retaining his AEW World Title against Kenny Omega on this Wednesday’s Dynamite would have no bearing on his ability to work the show. The main factor involved in the matter currently is whether or not Tony Khan can work a deal out with New Japan officials for him to make the appearance.
Moxley regained the IWGP US Title back in August of last year beating Lance Archer and hasn’t defended the title since defeating Minoru Suzuki on February 9th. He’s held the AEW World Title since February 29th by defeating Chris Jericho at Revolution.
