Brian Pillman Jr. has been making appearances on AEW Dark for the past several months, forming a tag team with Griff Garrison. Now the tag team has a name and will be debuting on Dynamite next week.
Pillman and Garrison were advertised as The Varsity Blonds and will be facing FTR on Dynamite next week.
While this may seem like a simple debut for a talent, it’s important to note that Pillman has been on Dark primarily as his MLW contract has prevented him from appearing on television for another promotion. This could be a sign that Pillman’s contract has expired or he has negotiated his release from the company.
Next week should be an interesting Dynamite with many matches and another appearance from Sting already signed.
UPDATE: It seems Pillman & Garrison have had an appearance on Dynamite prior. While the appearance wouldn’t mark their debut on the program, it would be the first time they would be using the Varsity Blondes name, in addition to one of the first times they have promoted a Pillman appearance on the Wednesday night show.
