UWN Suspends Prime Time Live PPVs Until 2021
In a year where not many new shows or ideas have popped up in professional wrestling, the United Wrestling Network debuted their Prime Time Live pay per view shows back in September.
Their first show featured Nick Aldis against Mike Bennett for the NWA World Title, a partnership that has continued on with the company as the NWA has used their studios for their Shockwave YouTube show.
Now the UWN will be taking a small hiatus until next year, as was announced on the recent Prime Time Live by UWN President Dave Marquez.
Marquez announced the program will be taking a holiday break as COVID-19 cases continue to rise. Marquez told fans that they want to present the best product possible and did not want to be in a position where lineups would constantly shift due to positive COVID tests or even someone needing to quarantine for the safety of others. The company is clearly taking precautions for all their talent while wanting to maintain the integrity of their programming.
One of the matches affected by all of the shifting was the finals of a tournament to crown a new UWN World Champion when Mike Bennett and Chris Dickinson were supposed to face off. Marquez said that match will definitely happen in 2021, but until then we would have to wait.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all companies in different ways, but it’s good to see promotions putting the health and safety of others first.
