Triple H Explains NXT’s Absence From This Year’s Survivor Series
In previous years WWE’s Survivor Series PPV has featured talent from NXT, however this year the yellow brand was completely left off the PPV.
Triple H participated in a media call earlier today ahead of Sunday’s NXT TakeOver: War Games event.
During the media call Triple H fielded questions, one of which brought up NXT’s omission from this year’s Survivor Series card. Trips went on to explain that he believed the reason NXT was left off of this year’s ppv was because creative was “trying to build individual talents and not combining them as much.” He went on to add that he personally thinks that the COVID-19 pandemic caused the brands to be separate.
Triple H said:
“To be honest I’m not sure every aspect of the creative decisions, but I also believe that the creative teams as they’re trying to build individual talents and not combining them as much, I think COVID-19 caused the brands to be separated.”
In addition, Triple H went on to state that “a lot of time has gone by” but the situation surrounding the pandemic remains the same.
If WWE was to have included NXT into plans for this year’s Survivor Series, they would have had to do a lot of “crisscrossing” in order to promote the event. With the desire to help restrict the spread of COVID and avoid as many issues with quarantine and contamination as possible, the company decided against the idea to include NXT into plans for this year’s Survivor Series.
NXT TakeOver: War Games takes place this Sunday from the Capital Wrestling Center.
