ROH Pure Title Match Scheduled For Final Battle
Ring of Honor continues to stack their Final Battle card ahead of the event next Friday December 18th.
With all titles set to be defended, Jonathan Gresham has the first of two title defenses booked for him. Being both RoH’s Pure Champion and one half of the company’s tag team champions, Gresham looks to be pulling double duty this show as he defends his Pure Title against Flip Gordon.
Gordon looks to make himself some history by winning his first ever singles title in the company, and Gresham looks to try to leave the event still a double champion. Below is ROH’s release about the match.
While Jonathan Gresham was competing in and ultimately winning the Pure Title Tournament, Flip Gordon was watching from home feeling disrespected over not being invited to be one of the 16 participants.
Gordon, who has an ROH World Title shot coming to him at some point by virtue of winning a No. 1 contender’s battle royal earlier this year, has made capturing the Pure Title from Gresham his immediate goal.
“The Mercenary” petitioned ROH officials for a title match with Gresham at the Final Battle pay-per-view on Dec. 18, and they have granted his request.
Gordon, who has a background in MMA and amateur wrestling, has never competed in a match contested under Pure rules. Regarded as one of the best high flyers in the sport, Gordon wants to prove that he’s also a great technical wrestler.
He’ll be facing a man who is the very definition of a pure wrestler. Gresham is the founder of The Foundation, a group whose mission is to bring pure wrestling to the forefront. This will be Gresham’s first defense of the Pure Championship since winning the tournament.
The order of the matches at Final Battle has not been announced, but what is known is that Gresham will be wrestling twice that night. “The Octopus” and Jay Lethal will defend the ROH World Tag Team Title against Mark Briscoe and PCO.
Will Gordon win his first singles championship in ROH at the company’s biggest show of the year? Will Gresham leave Final Battle with both of his belts, one of his belts, or no belts? Join us on pay-per-view or streaming for HonorClub to find out!
