WWE likes to make sure their stars are home for the Christmas holiday, so it tends to tape their Christmas episode early. In the past, Raw has taped two shows back to back to cover Christmas in the past, but Christmas Day is on a Friday this year, so the blue brand is being tapped to do the Christmas episode this year.
We reported that they would tape the episode instead of being live earlier this week, but now the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has confirmed the company hasn’t decided on a date to tape the show. They did, however, report they’re leaning toward December 22nd or 23rd.
For the 12/25 Smackdown show, right now it will be taped either 12/22 or 12/23, most likely the latter day but it’s not official right now. Ringside News was the first to report it being a taped show.
More information should come to light soon, especially if they plan on having fans watching in the Thunderdome for the show. Otherwise, they may use previous footage of fans on the screens as they’ve done previously.
