Lance Storm Talks About Booker T And Goldust’s Tag Team Title Victory At Armageddon 2002

Looking back on the history of pro wrestling can provide some interesting stories and reactions from people. The things you learn when people bring up what happened in the past leads to some wonderful stories, like the once Lance Storm shared on Twitter today.

On this day in 2002, the then-annual Armageddon pay per view happened and a Tag Team Title change happened when Booker T and Goldust won a Fatal 4-Way elimination tag team match against the then champs Chris Jericho & Christian, William Regal & Lance Storm, and the Dudley Boyz. While most people will remember the victory of Booker T and Goldust, Storm revealed they weren’t originally scheduled to win that match.

On his Twitter account, Storm said he and Regal were originally booked to win the match, but he had suggested Booker & Goldust win the match because they had so many failed title shots and another loss would hurt the team too much. The others in the match agreed and they talked the decision makers into changing the finish. It’s not often you hear a story about a wrestler willing to not win a title to put someone else over, so this is quite the story Storm has revealed about the history of this match.

Booker T & Goldust weren’t tag team champions for long and eventually lost them to Regal and Storm, but it definitely provided for a feel good moment on the show and it was definitely a way to help Booker gain momentum and popularity on his eventual road to facing Triple H at WrestleMania 19.
