Lana Speaks on WWE’s Third Party Ban
WWE’s third party ban has been a much maligned decision and one of the biggest wrestling news stories of 2020.
When the news of it broke, several fingers were pointed at Lana, who many people said her ability to use her platform for these endorsements caused the ban. She had been seen promoting an energy drink on her official Instagram, which many view as the straw that broke Vince McMahon’s back on the matter.
Lana, still incredibly active on her social media, gave her opinion on the ban to the New York Post where she feels like it happened because WWE didn’t realize the money they could make on these platforms while other people did.
“There is a lot, a lot of money that can be made on the digital front from brand deals to Twitch, to YouTube. There’s so much money that maybe WWE didn’t always see they could make.”
“I may not be a main-event WrestleMania player, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make a lot of money on the digital front. And I think with a lot of different people, you see that. I see that…I look at our girls and I’m like, ‘Man, Ruby Riott can make so much money in this aspect, Liv Morgan, Mandy (Rose) there, me there.’ I’m always like, ‘Ah, I should be a manager.’ I should be a real-life manager.”
The ban has certainly created a lot of unhappy superstars as has been reported in the past, and it has even found someone losing their job over a violation of it. However, it seems like some understand the company point of view in their own way.
