UK Wrestlers Stood United Against British Promoter

As reported earlier this week by Jonathan McMahon , British Promoter and managing director of New World Entertainment Wrestling (based in Wolverhampton) Liam Kenny, also known as Kenny Killbaine or Gaston Killbaine was outed for inappropriate behaviour, thanks to the efforts of Lucia Lee. Lee was also instrumental in encouraging many women come forward with their stories earlier this year and helping to kick start the speaking out movement.

Lucia Lee released messages that had been sent by Kenny, the messages revealed an inappropriate conversation regarding Lucia Lee’s relationship status as well as a racist remark regarding wrestler Hari Singh. Things went from bad worse when messages released by Stu Allen showed Kenny sending extremely inappropriate messages to a minor.

The ugly side of wrestling has once again reared it’s head, however something was strikingly different this time and that was the wrestlers who came out in droves to condemn the actions of Kenny. The British Wrestlers vowed that they would not tolerate this behaviour any more and would not work for companies run by promoters such as Kenny. Many of these superstars came forward before the revelation of incident involving a minor;

Spike Trivet was the first to respond with a tweet stating he will not be fulfilling any of dates he had booked with New World Entertainment, whilst also thanking Lucia Lee for bringing this information to light.

Alexxis Falcon was next to come forward, she would follow up stating that everything looked legit with regards to safe working practices, codes of conducts and dignity in the work place documents as well as CRB checks but how are they to know about private messages sent behind the scenes?

This was followed by not just wrestlers but also commentators and ring announcers all coming forward to say they will not work with New World Entertainment or any promotion/promoter found to be participating in any questionable or inappropriate behaviour. These included, wrestlers such as; Visage, Simon Hill, Ivy, Kings of the North, Joel Redman, RJ Singh, Roy Johnson, Reese Ryan, Molly Spartan as well as Commentator Mike Angus, Presenter Simon Hill and many more.

It has now been reported by Urban Legend that the Staffordshire Police are now involved regarding the messages sent to the underage girl.

Although it is a shame to see that the ugly side of wrestling has not been fully rooted out yet, it is great to see that wrestlers and others involved in the industry will not stand for this sort of behaviour any more, by standing united and outing those who behave inappropriately. Hopefully the work that the APPG Wrestling are currently doing will help to find and remove any further bad elements in the wrestling industry and British Wrestling can move forward bigger and better then ever before.
