WWE May Have “Got The Message” After Low Raw Rating
Monday night’s terrible Raw rating could lead to some reactionary decisions. It could possibly even lead to more, but it’s a wait and see game at this point.
Raw drew only 1.52 million viewers this week and their .49 and .44 averages for the first two hours of the show weren’t even good enough to defeat last week’s Dynamite, which hit .57 in the coveted 18-49 demographic.
Situations like this usually have the WWE call on some of their heavy hitters to help boost ratings, like an appearance from someone like Steve Austin or The Undertaker. However, with Undertaker gone thanks to his Final Farewell, it may be difficult to imagine who Vince could call on right now for a shot in the arm when it comes to ratings.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked more about the ratings issue and says the important parties in the WWE “got the message” when it came to something needing to change.
“It’s a wakeup call for WWE. Look, everyone I know in WWE was stunned and everyone I know in WWE got the message too. It’s just what you do with the message. Again, there’s a lot of issues at stake.”
Whatever they do, a short term answer may not be the solution. The WWE will look to try several things to improve ratings, but they will need to find something that connects with fans to bring the ratings up from the nosedive going into 2021.
