After being pulled from ROH’s Final Battle show, Bandido took a booking for CMLL and was announced for their Christmas Day Copa Jr. show where he was scheduled to face Volador Jr. for the NWA Historic Welterweight Title. Unfortunately, CMLL has had to cancel the show.

Mexico City, the city where the venue is located, has enacted new restrictions for COVID-19 that have forced CMLL to cancel the show. The show looked to have Bandido vs. Volador Jr. in the semi-main event of the evening, a make good on a match originally scheduled for September before Bandido came down with COVID-19.

CMLL has released a statement, which you can read an English translation of below.

The Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre informs that, due to the epidemiological change in Mexico City to red, the event that was set to take place live on Friday, December 25 at Arena México has been canceled in line with what authorities have determined.

The Copa Jr. VIP and our events behind closed doors for television will take place as soon as the authorities of the CDMX authorize it.

CMLL reiterates its commitment as a responsible company and committed to the health of the fighters and staff and invites the fans to strengthen hygienic, preventive and restrictive measures to stop the increase in COVID-19 infections.
