For the second straight week, Rey and Dominik Mysterio were not featured on SmackDown. Unlike the week prior, Rey and Dominik’s absence wasn’t punctuated by the other half of the rivalry they now find themselves in absent as well.
The Mysterio family, along with daughter Aalyah’s beau Murphy, King Corbin, and his new Knights of the Lone Wolf team of Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake weren’t on SmackDown this week. Some people assumed that they were 86’ing the angle with Seth Rollins prepared to make an imminent return to the blue brand. What’s the real story?
Ringside News has learned that the Mysterio family just wasn’t booked for the week and thus weren’t flown in for the taping. Corbin, Blake, and Cutler were backstage but unused for them. It seems more like the show put a priority on angles and programs that were being featured on TLC before stuff that wouldn’t make the event. Even so, the absence of the angle has nothing to do with Seth Rollins returning to reignite that feud, it came down to timing.
