The Miz Makes Infamous History At TLC PPV
Every now and then, history is made. In the world of professional wrestling, it doesn’t happen as often due to the long history of the business, but last night at TLC The Miz achieved a historic milestone that he probably wishes he hadn’t.
TLC opened with Drew McIntyre meeting AJ Styles for the WWE Championship, but a sudden interruption from The Miz turned it into a triple threat TLC match when he decided to cash in the Money In the Bank briefcase.
Despite entering the match after both Styles and McIntyre have already put their bodies through hell and being far more fresh than either man was, Miz failed to win the match and McIntyre retained the belt in a hard fought match. This is where history was made.
The Miz has now become the only Superstar to have both a successful and failed cash in of the the briefcase, having previously successfully cashed in back in 2010 on Randy Orton.
This has been a rough last few years for Money in the Bank holders. Three out of the last four holders of the men’s briefcase have failed to successfully cash in. King Corbin, Braun Strowman, and The Miz have all failed to successfully cash in, while Brock Lesnar managed to successfully cash in in 2019. Strowman’s is considered a failed cash in as an attack from Brock Lesnar deemed both competitors unable to continue in their match.
