GCW Files Trademark Of Their Own For The Collective

The WWE has been having some issues with trademarks lately. The Mercedes Martinez issue was recently brought back into light not only by her return to the company, but WWE having similar issues trademarking Keith Lee’s name.

Now they look to be gearing up for another struggle with independent wrestling promotion GCW over the name The Collective.

We reported WWE has begun the process of trademarking that name back on December 15th, though thanks to the help of famous wrestling trademark attorney Michael Dockins, GCW was able to file a trademark for it on their own on December 21st. Dockins is famous for helping several AEW stars lock down their names, and took to Twitter shortly after the news drop to said there is no need to worry.

GCW’s trademark filing specifies “Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer.” This seems to make sure it’s pointed toward their specific shows as opposed to anything else the WWE could be planning on using it for.
