Booker T Doesn’t Think Sting Wrestling One More Match Is “Worth It”
Sting suffered what seemed to be a career ending injury in 2015 after taking a Buckle Bomb that may not have hit right from Seth Rollins at Night of Champions. After laying low and making minimal appearances for the remainder of his WWE contract, Sting resurfaced at the start of December in All Elite Wrestling.
Since then, Sting has teased the idea of making an in-ring return and AEW seems to have plans to use Sting in an in-ring capacity, making use of tag matches and cinematic matches to make the most of Sting’s limited abilities due to the neck injury. While this might excite some fans, it’s certainly doesn’t seem like a good idea to Booker T.
Booker T spoke with Chris Van Vliet for his show and talked about how he felt Sting shouldn’t wrestle for AEW. Booker believes that while he wouldn’t advice the now 61-year old Sting to get back into the ring, he believes that Sting might think a chance for one more match might be worth it to him.
“For Sting to want to have a match, I wouldn’t advise it. Okay? At 61 years old. I wouldn’t advise it. Is it worth it? I don’t know. I mean to him, it might be worth it. But I say wrestling is a young man’s sport, that’s why I got out. I said I was going to retire when I was 40 and when I turned 40 I was like, ‘I’m still pretty good, man. I’m still better than the rest of these suckas on the roster’. So I pushed it until I was 45 and then I walked away from it. And I tell you, I don’t ever itch to put my boots back on to go out there and do that ever again.”
No wrestler seems to be into the idea of the lasting memory their fans have is them ending their career on their back. With Sting’s last match ending in a loss for him, there’s a chance he wants his fans to remember that last match in a more positive light. While Booker T wouldn’t advise the move, he understands the chance for one more might be more alluring to him than anyone else. You can watch the clip about this below.
