New Japan Strong is the New Japan Pro Wrestling’s show taped at their Los Angeles Dojo. It’s their way of creating content involving their foreign talent while they can’t utilize them on other shows while also working on expanding their brand into the US. Several of their shows were taped and spoilers leaked out, leaving the company outraged.
Fightful Select has reported that NJPW officials are upset over a report that revealed they taped the NJPW Strong shows in bulk, as they had asked talent involved not to reveal anything about the taping process.
Granted, a person involved has said they don’t understand why the company sees it as a bad thing they pretaped the shows. They are taping in “huge blocks” out of necessity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While other companies have done what they can to work within the situations surrounding these unique times, New Japan certainly seems to find that they want to maintain a certain standard or illusion of their own work.
