Tony Khan Announces TNT Title Is Retired And Gives The Title To Brodie Lee Jr.
AEW closed out 2020 with a bang with its Brodie Lee tribute show.
The final Dynamite of 2020 ended with an in-ring tribute to Lee, the company’s former TNT Champion. With Preston “10” Vance in the ring, Cody Rhodes, Lee’s wife Amanda Huber, and Brodie Lee Jr., his late wife and son left his wrestling boots and a bandana in the ring to retire them and honor his memory.
Tony Khan joined the group and in an emotional moment, handed Lee’s son the TNT Title, declaring him the final TNT Champion and retiring the belt. Brodie Jr. was given the actual title and not a replica one. What this means for Darby Allin’s reign as a champion is yet to be seen, but it was confirmed on the AEW Dynamite post-show from Khan himself the belt has been retired.
EDIT: Khan has now clarified his statement. The TNT Title is not defunct, but the title being used is retired. A new TNT Title will be created, and the current one is no longer active and is now in the hands of Brodie Lee Jr.
