AEW Names Brodie “-1” Lee Jr. Wrestler Of The Week
All Elite Wrestling has gone out of their way to pay tribute to Brody Lee’s family in several ways. One way was revealed recently and may not leave a dry eye in the house.
The account for AEW Dynamite (@aewontnt) on Instagram usually posts their Wrestler of the Week following the show. In tribute to the young man, Brodie Lee Jr. was named Dynamite’s Wrestler of the Week.
Referred to either as Brodie Jr. or -1 for a majority of the night, Lee watched the show from the front row with Alan “5” Angels of the Dark Order and while he was a cheerleader for his dad’s faction and his favorite wrestlers most of the night, the son of the Exalted One had two important moments on the show.
The first came during the 6-man tag match between Hangman Page, John Silver, and Alex Reynolds against The Inner Circle, where after being bullied by MJF on multiple occasions during the match, -1 used his kendo stick to blast MJF over the head. The second happened at the end of the night where Tony Khan gave the current incarnation of the TNT Title to -1 and told him and the fans at home and at Daily’s Place that the current design of the title will be retired in honor of his father’s legacy. Lee Jr. was given the TNT Title to keep as they retired the title.
Last night’s Dynamite was a beautiful tribute to Brodie Lee, so much that even Brodie Lee’s widow had to remark about it on social media. The only one who had anything bad to say was MJF.
But let’s face it, he had it coming.
