Backstage News On Changed Roman Reigns Segment From SmackDown
Roman Reigns had an advertised segment for SmackDown, where it was said he would be asking a special request from WWE management. That didn’t happen, and fans were left wondering just what was supposed to happen. Ringside News has now first reported why.
The site has learned Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman had a hand in changing the creative plans for Friday night, with the segment he was supposed to make his special request changed in favor of the segment that aired instead.
They were also told WWE fed the plans to the social media team before the angle was changed. Their source told them “Once the changes were put in place, Vince didn’t want to even mention or work around the social postings.”
This seems to be another example of the social media team not being kept in the loop with creative plans for the show. This happened in another case on SmackDown, with them announcing Seth Rollins’ return, only for it to be removed as there were never actually plans for Rollins to return. It doesn’t hurt that Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman have extensive creative pull, making plans for him a lot less concrete to nail down with the team.
