Reverend Of Sport’s 2020 Wrestling Match Of The Year
This was hard. 2 months of full live crowds and 10 with either no crowd or far far less people. Multiple promotions bearing fabulous rosters capable of top matches. Even picking a top 10 would not do justice to so much talent and the many fabulous moments.
Sometimes it’s better to cut to the chase and go with your gut, which match stuck with you, personally for me there’s one that stood out.
AEW REVOLUTION 2020- Kenny Omega & Hangman Adam Page defend the world tag titles against The Young Bucks.
The battle of the Elite.
This match had everything. Hard hitting ground offence, impressive high flying offence and a roar of an invested crowd.
The build for this match was intense and well told, reinvigorating Hangman and highlighting the standard of the Elite in general.
Many spots referenced so many different stories and basically the more backstory you know, the more you understood and felt connected to what was happening in the ring.
Genuinely the greatest tag match I’ve seen and it made me realise how important the tag division is in wresting promotions.
I feel very lucky to be able to watch matches like this.
