Big Match Canceled From Tonight’s NXT, Reason Why
WWE NXT is preparing to air their New Year’s Evil special tonight to go head to head with AEW’s New Year’s Smash Night One. However, NXT will be down one of their featured matchup.
NXT announced a Fight Pit match between Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher, and now it seems the match will not be taking place. According to Dave Meltzer’s Twitter account, one of the two is injured though he did not specify which of the two competitors is injured.
This likely has to do with Ciampa vs. Thatcher. One of the two is injured and as of yesterday it wasn’t a sure thing if the match would happen or not.
The card is still loaded, with featured matches like Karrison Kross vs. Damian Priest and Kyle O’Reilly vs. Finn Balor, but it is still a big blow to the card. With New Year’s Smash countering with Kenny Omega vs. Rey Fenix and Hikaru Shida vs. Abadon, both shows look to be prepared to reveal some great programming tonight.
