Update On Alleged NXT Talent’s Nixed Call Up
We heard earlier a top NXT talent was set for a debut on last week’s SmackDown. No name was given in the report, but thanks to Fightful Select, we now know who just might be the next NXT callup in line.
Damian Priest was the scheduled talent to be involved in a segment with Roman Reigns, though it was not reported what role he was supposed to play in their interaction. This also confirms the WrestleVotes report that the talent slated for call up was scheduled for a match on NXT’s New Year’s Evil tonight, as Priest is scheduled to meet Karrion Kross, a match that could be his final on the black and gold brand if the call up is still on.
Priest and Kross have been announced as the show’s opening match, which has also been revealed will be commercial free. It was revealed yesterday that Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns used some backstage pull to have their segment changed from last week’s SmackDown, with it now looking Priest may have been part of the changed segment but that might just be speculation at this point.
We will look to have results of NXT tonight, in addition to results and news for SmackDown on Friday.
