Linda McMahon Revealed To Have Posted Tweets Spreading False Claims About The Election
Yesterday’s attack on Washington D.C. by domestic terrorists in support of Donald Trump’s dog whistling to overturn November’s election was a stain on American history. Though it did nothing to overturn the election results, the chilling attack affected all of us, including the world of professional wrestling.
Mick Foley took to Twitter yesterday in the midst of it to call on Vince McMahon to remove Donald Trump from the WWE Hall of Fame. While many have said Trump may look to the WWE on his post-presidential tour in the hopes of repairing his increasingly toxic image, many people agreed with Foley that the action should be taken.
Unfortunately, many people believe this may just be a pipe dream. As many people know, Linda McMahon has strong ties to the Trump administration as the chairman of the America First Super PAC. McMahon was also a strong contributor to the Trump campaign, in addition to also helping build some of the divide in the country involving misinformation following the election.
In the days following the election, Linda McMahon continued to post tweets in support of Trump’s baseless claims the election was stolen from him. Though not tagged with many of the same warnings Twitter issued some of Trump’s staunchest allies, you can see from her tweets, she supported a movement that many people feel led to yesterday’s act of terrorism. She even re-tweeted posts from Trump that had been marked with disputed claims. With a strong Twitter following, Linda McMahon may have purposely or inadvertantly played a part in the radicalisation of several people that took part in the heinous act.
McMahon has not tweeted since December 16th, and it may be a while before we see a tweet from her after yesterday’s incident.
