WWE Creative Team May Have Broken Arrangements With NXT Over Damian Priest
WWE seems to have plans to bring Damian Priest to the main roster, and last night’s loss to Karrion Kross seems to add credibility to that theory. While it was said Priest was supposed to debut this past Friday on SmackDown, those plans were changed and now we wait to see what the move is for Priest’s arrival on one of the two flagship shows of the WWE.
However, in the process of bringing Priest to the main roster, it seems the SmackDown creative team may have broken a arrangement made between them and the NXT creative team that could leave some people angry and frustrated.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed there is an arrangement between the main roster and NXT. He told listeners that a call up is supposed to get “months” of planning, which wasn’t the case for Priest. According to Meltzer, the plans seemed to be made about 24 hours prior to SmackDown.
“This was not a long, planned out thing. Before it was supposed to be ‘nobody moves from NXT to the main roster unless it’s planned for months in advance.’ Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. This was actually something that was planned like Thursday before Friday and then they decided not to do it.”
It has also been reported there was an agreement the main roster wouldn’t call up someone in the middle of an angle, and considering he had been building a feud with Kross, that may have also been a breached agreement. Either way, there seems to be a lot of discord surrounding Priest’s call up to the main roster now, so we will have to see what happens in the coming days.
