Eddie Kingston Reveals Why His Mother Thought He Should Choose AEW Over WWE
One of AEW’s surprise signings happened over the summer when they picked up Eddie Kingston. While Kingston may not have originally been on their radar, his first appearance certainly put him on their map and has taken the ball and run with it into becoming one of the company’s top and most charismatic heels.
Since then, Kingston revealed he had an offer from the WWE right around the time AEW offered him a contract and eventually picked AEW. Speaking with Renee Paquette on her Oral Sessions podcast, Kingston opened up more on what made him choose to become All Elite over a chance to join the biggest pro wrestling promotion in the world.
“Well actually, I talked to Christopher Daniels. So me and Chris talked and I’ve known forever from the indies, so they offered me the deal and I listened to the other side, I guess we can call them. I listened to the other side and you know, I was just weighing options, but then my mother was the final nail. She goes ‘you won’t be happy over there, trust me.'”
Paquette pressed a little further as to what would make Kingston’s mother feel that way, and Kingston revealed that it was his love of pro wrestling that his mother understood that had her feel that way.
“I know more people in AEW and I know there’s a lot more heart there; like people who love the business who were in it, that didn’t come from somewhere else and then become a wrestler, you know what I mean? So I think for her, that’s what she thought, she was like I’m gonna be with people who love it just as much as I do.”
Kingston has been vocal about how much he loves professional wrestling, and that’s not just a gimmick. It seems like his mother took that into consideration when she gave him what he’s viewing as great advice. You can watch the clip below.
