Roman Reigns returned at SummerSlam this year, making a shocking heel turn. Since his return to the company, Reigns has also had a lot of creative influence, something he hasn’t had before. It’s a big change and a lot of it has to do with Paul Heyman.
Reigns and Heyman helped convince WWE that it didn’t make sense for Kevin Owens to have a new best friend suddenly, leading to the nixed call up of NXT’s Damian Priest. Reigns has creative input like no other star on the main roster has, and Ringside News has reported Heyman is responsible for that kind of creative control.
One source told them “the only reason he’s so far ahead of everyone else is because, much like Heyman was with Brock Lesnar or Heyman was with Ronda Rousey, the best creative person in the business is working with him.”
Another point brought up to them is the ease that Heyman took Reigns, who has long struggled to connect with fans, and helped him get over to the point he is now finally considered one of the top stars of the company by fans and the company alike. Their source added “Now Reigns is the biggest star in the business within four months. They SHOULD change the creative every week.”
Reigns is in a great position that few people get in the WWE, and a lot of his position right now has to do with having the creative power of Paul Heyman behind him.
