Last weeks Smackdown saw a gauntlet match take place to find out who will be facing Universal Champion, Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble.
The gauntlet match featured; Daniel Bryan, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura, King Corbin, and Rey Mysterio…the gauntlet match was won by Shinsuke Nakamura but Nakamura had to face WWE Official, Adam Pearce following his win.
Pearce won after Roman Reigns and his cousin, Jey Uso attacked Nakamura and Pearce both and throwing Pearce on top of Nakamura for the victory.
On this weeks edition of Friday Night Smackdown, Pearce and Reigns were scheduled to have a contract signing for their Universal Championship Match. Pearce signed something but Pearce also stated he doesn’t know if he would be “medically cleared” for the Rumble.

Pearce stated that he has a suitable replacement which turned out to be Kevin Owens, returning after being thrown off the ThunderDome seats onto a table.
Roman Reigns will now face Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble for the Universal Championship Match.
