Backstage Production Error Leads To Irate Vince McMahon On Last Night’s SmackDown
The closing segment of SmackDown last night had Adam Pearce revealing that he substituted Kevin Owens for himself in a Last Man Standing Match against Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble. The problem was, not many people heard him.
During the segment, a microphone Pearce had continued to cut in and out, preventing many people from being able to hear Pearce reveal the plan. These are the problems that can show up on live television, it’s the nature of the beast. However, Ringside News has reported that despite the technological error, Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn were absolutely livid. Their source told them their mood over it could be described as “very pissed.” Everything Pearce had to say was important for the angle and few people could hear it.
It was told to them that the microphone issue was “a production f*ck up, to say the least.” It was also noted that things like that aren’t common and “that’s very rare around here [WWE].”
While sometimes microphone malfunctions have been staged to help advance a storyline or an angle, the site has confirmed this was 100% not staged, this wasn’t supposed to happen.
You can watch the segment below, but they were still unable to fix the audio issues.
