AEW Announces Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament
Last night on Dynamite, AEW announced a Women’s World Champion Eliminator tournament, where the winner would get a title shot against current AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida. With the graphic being revealed, it looks like the tournament might just have a theme to it.
While not official, AEW’s Twitter account revealed a graphic, showing a two sided bracket, and based on how it’s laid out one could assume it may just be a Japan vs. USA bracket. It has been quite some time since AEW has brought in their joshi talent, but there has been talk about bringing at least Riho back in the near future. The speculation is already beginning that even joshi promotion Stardom could be involved.
The potential of a USA vs. the World tournament could open up for even more things, but until more details are announced, all we can do is go on the graphic. It has been revealed tournament matches will take place on YouTube and other AEW programming.
