AEW Faces New Complications In Bringing Riho Back
One of the biggest absences in AEW since the COVID-19 pandemic started is AEW’s first Women’s Champion, Riho. It’s been reported that AEW was working on bringing her back before things went silent on that front. Now we know that while the process has been slow, they are still trying.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported AEW is “working on bringing Riho back.” Naturally, there’s a lot of logistical issues right now when someone is flying in from Japan. The new executive order by Joe Biden requires a negative COVID-19 test before entry, in addition to quarantine time. Ultimate, it’s not the negative test that brings up the issues, but the quarantine time.
The issue would be her moving from Japan to the U.S. most likely, although it’s not impossible for her to live in Japan, but it’s much tougher […] she could go back into society plus whatever ends up here. It makes sense her return would be for the women’s tournament
With the AEW Women’s Eliminator Tournament announced, the return of Riho makes a lot of sense, but obviously a lot of dominos have to fall in place to make sure things happen.
